Game of the Summer

I've shied away from Team Fortress two this summer and have moved on to Counter Strike 1.6.
This game is nothing like TF2, being a demo all you really have to do is run around spamming grenades and you'll get a few kills. In CS you don't usually play 12 v 12 like tf2, there's RECOIL on all of your shots making things incredibly tricky, different guns to choose from, different types of grenades, armour, all on a budget. You really have to practice to be good at this game.

As I'm just learning this game I am still the "noob" that auto buys and doesn't really know how to use the grenades well or every type of gun, but I'm trying I promise. I use a console command to make all of my teammates and enemies look the same, yet I still shoot my teammates when they sneak up on me. :-p (I'm only playing on servers that don't have Team killing enabled)

Recoil is still really tricky for me. On the guns I use (mainly AK/M4) you want to spray your bullets when the enemy is close and bursting ( or tapping) when they are further away. Instinct tells you to just spray when you see an enemy. ( I've went through whole rounds of bullets spraying and never hitting the person once) This game can get pretty discouraging.

Playing Condition Zero definitely helps before just jumping into 1.6. Condition Zero takes you through the maps and the different types of guns. Every map has a different mission you have to accomplish, as you complete the goals you get points to spend on more team members. A mission example is: Kill four enemies with your deagle pistol and win the round in 90 seconds or less. You get a few rounds to accomplish everything. The hardest missions to complete are hostage rescue. You have to rescue the four hostages with out killing all of your enemies. Your bot teammates always kill everyone by the time you get to the hostages. It definitely take some time to complete. Don't forget to use your commands to try to control your teammates.

Although there are a lot of successful female CS teams out there it seems like cs pub players (males) are pretty sexist. I've never played in a server where i haven't been given some grief for being a girl.

(A word for word in game conversation)
"OMG there's a girl playing with us..."
"I KNOW! You kill her..."
"I'm not killing the girl, that's mean"
"Well, I don't want to make her cry"

I seriously won ten straight rounds because no one would shoot me. My cs name is always [k]ourtney` not anything like Princess1337 or Sexybunnie213. Then i could see guys making fun. Although the ridicule did stop once my buddy came in with a name similar to mine and started pwning face :)

I've never had a problem in TF2 other than "You're really good for a girl" or "I didn't realize you were a girl". I've played with a lot of really good females (although most only play medic, but that's another thing).

There are more female cs pros than TF2 yet girls get more grief for playing cs than tf2...

Maybe I'm just playing on some bad servers... any suggestions for some good ones? :)

If you're a girl, and can actually play a game without saying "oh my gawwd!!! you just killed me, I hate you forever"... then definitely add me on steam :) the name is kourtt

Pump it Up

Today, my friend and I padded a Pump it Up mat!

{Pump It Up is the Korean version of Dance Dance Revolution. The pad has five buttons and the songs are almost impossible. They also attempted to make it English. The buttons say "stomp", "on your mark", etc. On the end of the mat it says "Prepormance Enhancement Pad" Instead of "Preformance".}

We took the pad (foam insert) out of another mat ( i guess it didn't work anymore, but the mat had a zipper on it so the pad was actually removable) and we hot glued the pieces of the mat together, then crazy glued the pad to the bottom of the mat.  To stop the pad from moving and slipping on the floor, we are going to double-sided taping a rug grip to it.

Right now it's drying in the other room, we're both a little light headed from the smell x-p
We have all the Harry Potter books, among others setting on top of it while the mat adheres to the pad.

My Zelda Adventure Update

The other day my friend came over to help me through Lord Jubu-Jubu. When I originally asked him for advice he made it seem like i was doing everything wrong. The problem was simple. I was having such a hard time that i chose just to skip getting the map, but to move forward you HAD to get the map. If he would have just told me that I would have been fine. So now I have all three pieces of the triforce and have gone into the future. I'm just about to enter the forest temple.

I've also found the bunny mask guy. You have to have all three pieces of the triforce before he runs around the field. The first time i found him  was at dawn, so as soon as i finished talking to him and pulled out the mask he started running. I didn't want to lose him so i followed him all the way around the field (i didn't know he ran in a complete circle) until night time when he finally sat down again.

I think I'm about halfway through the game. I don't think I've ever played a more frustrating game, but it definitely gives you a sense a of accomplishment.

I'm trying to play in the order of the game guide, but I'm excited to see all the new changes in the cities.

That horrible game called Zelda OoT

I think my best friend secretly hates me. Last week he gave me Zelda OoT on the Nintendo 64. It started off pretty well; I was managing pretty well until the Dadongo Cavern. I think I die more than anyone who has ever played the game. Before I do anything major I have to prepare myself with buying two healing potions and bombs. After surviving my first scary boss I was doing pretty well again until I got to LordJubu-Jubu (he's basically the whale from Pinocchio).  Everything in the whale-fish-thing is trying to kill you. There's evil bubbles, jelly fish, and sting rays. I'm completely stuck carrying a snobby fish princess above my head while trying not to die. I have no idea what to do next. I'm assuming something with giant green electric thing, but in this game you never know. I've tried every weapon I have on it and so far I've just died a lot. I'm also stuck on the bunny mask. I can not find this running guy in Hyrule field. I've ran around the field for 6 days now >.<

My friend is coming over to help me tonight, though he's not too pleased about it.

Hello World

My name's Kourtney and I'm 18 years old. I'm attending The Ohio State University in the fall to study International Relations and dance. I've studied ballet, jazz, and lyrical since I was five years old. My favorite color is pink and I have an obsession with Hello Kitty and my own kitten Wiki.

Unlike most girly girls, 90% of my friends are guys, guys who spend lots of time playing video games. Recently I've started playing some games with them. I've played many different types of games but my most played are: Team Fortress 2, Zelda, Call of Duty, Half life, Portal, Unreal, Warcraft, Starcraft, and The Sims. My favorite is TF2 and I play a pretty mean Demoman.

This blog is to prove to all the guys out there that a girly girl can play, and win, an "un-girly" video game. I hope to also prove that a girl can play a video game well and still be a girl. I hate when guys just assume I'm a horrible player,  can only play the easy classes, or need my own personal healer. I also hate when girls play video games and feel the need to be "girly", i.e. running around noting how pretty the colors of the game are, or apologizing for killing someone, "like oh my gosh, i killed you i'm so sorry! Will you still be my friend?" They just make the rest of the girl gamers look bad.

So follow me on an attempt to break the "girls cant play video games" stigma.
Or come play with me! Steam name: kourtt
